Miller’s Ark Animals Walk for War Horse

Ros Shepherd, Daisy Mae and Scarlett from Miller’s Ark Animals have already begun their Walk for War Horse, joining dozens of other animal lovers nationwide who have taken up the challenge to support animal sanctuaries. Daisy Mae is a beautiful shire who is expecting her foal any day soon, and Scarlett a miniature Mediterranean donkey, pictured here making friends with Lemon a hand-reared lamb.

Miller’s Ark, at Manor Arm in Hampshire, brings the sights, sounds and experiences of the farmyard and the magic of animals to the heart of shows, schools, residential homes and respite centres and hospices. It is based on the Earl of Malmesbury’s estate at Hook, and the home farm specialises in breeding British rare breed farm animals, including miniature donkeys, Irish Moiled cattle, ten different rare sheep breeds, Kune Kune pigs from New Zealand  – as well as ducks, geese, turkeys and chickens. The centre was established in 1991 by Elizabeth Miller B.A. Cantab, as an offshoot of her main farming business and has expanded steadily ever since, along with Animal Touch, the charity central to Manor Farm.

Ros, seen here with Daisy Mae, tells us that the plan is to meet with other people and their animals on their daily walks and take photos to submit for the Walk for War Horse competition. If you’d like to get involved email Margaret at
