Walking for War Horse in Northern Ireland

Jill Castles and her three donkeys, Percy, Dec and Dave the Rave, who are taking a well-earned rest after completing their Walk for War Horse.

Jill, from Lurgan, County Armagh, tells us: “The boys had a fab time exploring Northern Ireland during the month of April. In total they walked 142 miles between them, around local forest parks at Castlewellan and Gosford, and they even enjoyed a trip to the beach.”

We introduced Walk for War Horse with the Donkey Breed Society to help support rescue centres and animal welfare organisations during the challenging times of the pandemic. The idea was to encourage animal lovers across the UK to get sponsored as they trekked the hills and valleys near their homes throughout April with their horses, ponies, donkeys and dogs, while capturing on film the beauty of the British Isles. You haven’t disappointed and over the next few days we will continue to feature your animals and photos. There will be a prize for the most miles trekked and the best photo, so please keep send us your entries to Margaret at info@thewarhorsememorial.org
