Ascot is home to our majestic war horse and, of course, the world famous racecourse which, in our honour, staged The War Horse Memorial Stakes during its latest meeting.
As guests for the day, we presented the winner’s trophy to Dark Shift, the 100-30 favourite. Owned by Mr H. Frost, trained by Charles Hills and ridden by three-time champion jockey, Ryan Moore, Dark Shift came home by three-quarters-of-a-length. We also chose Northern Express as the best turned out horse and presented his stable hand with her prize money.
The race, over seven furlongs, was for three year olds and part of the first day of the September Racing Weekend at the historic course which has staged the sport since 1711. Queen Anne saw its potential and the venue, scene of many great moments, has been a favourite of monarchs ever since.
We have to say a particular thank you to Chairman at Ascot, Sir Francis Brooke, and to Jacqui Greet, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, for making it happen. Truly a day to remember!
