We are in for a treat on Sunday night (December 20) knowing that the acclaimed soprano Christina Johnston is joining other celebrities and stars for our virtual Christmas Concert. It premieres at 8pm and you can watch it by following this YouTube link –
Despite her young age, Christina, nicknamed “The Nightingale” has addressed audiences all over Europe, Asia and South America. She was accepted with scholarship when she was just 18 to The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She has sung for the Presidents of the Czech Republic and the People’s Republic of China, having lost her paid work due to the pandemic, Chrissy has performed a series of “lockdown” concerts from her home in Suffolk, with help from her husband, Slava. These have included vocal renditions of tracks from Evita, Moulin Rouge, The Greatest Showman and Phantom of the Opera, and appear on her Facebook page and on her YouTube channel. We are honoured to have Christina as an Ambassador for War Horse Memorial. We are used to hearing her sing A Million Tears, the official song for National Animal Day, specially written by Warwick, Young and Maclean, but her treat to us – and you – is her beautiful versions of two classic carols.
