This is the moment that a million purple poppies fell from the skies over Windsor to mark the launch of our national fundraising appeal.
Despite the high winds and threatening weather the wonderful Internationally acclaimed soprano Christina Johnston sang A Million Tears, a specially written composition and arrangement for the occasion to crowds gathered at the Royal Berkshire Polo Club. Our grateful thanks to the wonderful volunteers who rattled buckets to raise money for the Household Cavalry Foundation, the men and women of the Scots Guards and Andy Smerdon and friends (both human and equine) for showing us what cavalrymen of the First World War would have looked like all those years ago.
We now turn our attention to August 23 which we have designated National Purple Poppy Day. Many of you have contacted us asking how you can buy or sell poppies for us. We are grateful for all your kindness and support. If you want to know more keeping checking our website, or call Susan on 07836 229298 or e-mail email@example.com.
